Disclosure: DER is our product. Every model in this post runs on DER, and you pay DER in credits when you use it.

We gave Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 the same six prompts on DER: five text prompts and one photo, every clip 5 seconds, 720p and 16:9, with sound. Kling 4.0 followed our prompts more closely: the breakdance move, the bold lettering on the mug and a spoken line delivered on camera. Seedance 2.5 gave darker, more cinematic shots and was the closer match when the fox had to head into the trees. A 5-second clip cost 600 credits on Kling 4.0 and 225 on Seedance 2.5.

Text to video, prompt by prompt
The five prompts each test one thing: fast body motion, a character speaking on camera, a camera move over a landscape, readable text on an object, and a stylized animated look.
Text to video: five prompts
5 seconds, 720p, 16:9, with sound on both models.
Fast human motion: a breakdance spin on a wet street
PromptA young dancer in a yellow jacket performs a fast breakdance spin on a wet city street at night, neon signs reflecting in the puddles, a handheld camera circles the dancer, the slap of sneakers on wet asphalt and a distant hip-hop beat.
Speech and lip sync: a barista talks to the camera
PromptIn a small sunlit café, a barista with curly hair slides a cup across the counter, looks into the camera and says: "Your oat latte is ready. Careful, it is hot." Soft background chatter and the hiss of a milk steamer.
Landscape and camera move: drone over a misty forest
PromptAerial shot gliding forward over a misty pine forest at sunrise, a river winding through the valley below, golden light breaking through the fog, slow and steady drone movement, birdsong and a light wind.
Text on an object: a mug that reads MORNING
PromptClose-up of a white ceramic mug on a wooden table by a window, steam rising, the word "MORNING" printed in bold black letters on the mug, shallow depth of field, the camera slowly orbits the mug, quiet room tone.
Stylized 3D animation: a small robot waters a plant
PromptStylized 3D animation: a small round orange robot waters a potted plant on a windowsill while rain streaks down the glass, soft warm indoor light, the plant grows a new leaf, gentle piano music and the patter of rain.

- Fast motion (the breakdance spin). Kling 4.0 gave a real breakdance move: fast footwork around a hand planted in the puddles, with the camera circling. Seedance 2.5 had the dancer spin on their feet with the jacket flaring, in a darker, moodier shot. Kling 4.0 is the closer match to the prompt.
- Speech and lip sync (the barista). Both said the line word for word. Kling 4.0 cut to a close-up and delivered the whole line on camera; Seedance 2.5 started the line over a close-up of the mug and showed the barista's face for the second half. Kling 4.0 is the better pick when the line has to be seen being spoken.
- Landscape and camera move (the drone shot). Both made a smooth, steady forward glide. Kling 4.0 showed the whole valley and its winding river from the first frame; Seedance 2.5 flew low through thick sun rays over the treetops and revealed the river halfway through. Both did the move well, so pick the look you prefer.
- Text on an object (the MORNING mug). Both spelled MORNING right. Kling 4.0 matched the bold black letters and orbited the mug as asked. Seedance 2.5 used thin hand-drawn letters, added an autumn leaf on the table and drew fuller, more natural steam.
- Stylized animation (the robot). Kling 4.0 made a robot with arms and a watering can and told the story in three shots, ending on a new leaf. Seedance 2.5 made a round orange character with one big eye that sprinkles water from its own spout, in one continuous shot, and its seedling visibly grows. Kling 4.0 looks more like a robot; Seedance 2.5 keeps it to one shot.
Photo to video
Both models animated the same still: a red fox in snow, which we generated with Seedream 5.0 Pro on DER.
Photo to video
Both models animated the same still, made with Seedream 5.0 Pro. 5 seconds, 720p, with sound.
Photo to video: the fox from the still image
PromptThe fox turns its head toward the camera, blinks, then stands up and trots away into the birch forest as snowflakes keep falling. Soft wind and the crunch of snow.
Input

| Photo to video: the fox from the still image | Kling 4.0 | 5 s · 720p | 600 credits | 5 min 17 s | Done |
| Photo to video: the fox from the still image | Seedance 2.5 | 5 s · 720p · 16:9 · with sound | 225 credits | 3 min 44 s | Done |
Both kept the fox and the birch forest true to the still. Kling 4.0's fox trotted off to the side and out of the frame, while Seedance 2.5's fox turned and trotted away into the trees, which is what the prompt asked for.

Which one should you use?
- For a character who speaks on camera, use Kling 4.0, because in our test it delivered the barista's whole line in a close-up.
- For words on a product, use Kling 4.0, because in our test it matched the bold black lettering we asked for on the MORNING mug.
- For moody, cinematic scenes on a smaller budget, use Seedance 2.5, because in our test its night street and forest clips had a darker film look, at 225 credits against 600.
- For a photo where the subject has to go somewhere specific, use Seedance 2.5, because in our test its fox trotted into the trees as the prompt asked.
Try both
Each model page has its settings and current starting price: Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5. You can run either one from text to video or image to video on DER. For a closer look at Kling 4.0 alone, including how it compares with Kling 3.0, read our Kling 4.0 review.
How we tested
Six prompts: five text-to-video prompts and one image-to-video test from a still we made with Seedream 5.0 Pro on DER. Both models ran every prompt at 5 seconds, 720p and 16:9 with sound: Kling 4.0 always adds sound, and Seedance 2.5 ran with sound turned on. The Kling 4.0 clips are the same runs as in our Kling 4.0 review. Times run from starting the job to the finished clip. We checked the spoken line with speech-to-text.
Credits are what each run actually cost on November 4, 2026. Prices change: each model's page has the current one.
